In case you didn’t already know, Halloween is also Will’s Birthday which makes for a very exciting day. Ollie wanted to make his own wrapping paper for Daddy’s present so I set him up with a big piece of craft paper and some non-toxic paint aka two slices of beetroot. It was going well until he realised it was edible. Turns out Ollie loves raw beetroot.

Some lovely new neighbours invited us to a sausage sizzle that afternoon so we popped down to meet some neighbourhood newbies for half an hour. Would you believe at least 5 new families have moved on to our block in the last year?
This year we were well and truly ready for the trick-or treaters after the onslaught from last year. Some of them are quite crazy. While most of the kids are very polite and thank you nicely for their treat, I was quite taken by one little girl who took an entire handful of lollies and shoved them in her pumpkin. When I told her she should leave some for the other kids she gave me a death stare, turned and walked away. She’s lucky she didn’t get a little lesson in manners and walk away with nothing.

Our block gets very into the holiday now. I loved this set up on someone’s front porch but I didn’t dare take a treat!

Meanwhile back in our house Ollie is up to his usual tricks. As some people suggested, I filled one cupboard up with things he could play with and set him loose. The next time I turned around this is how I found him. This was about 5 minutes after I turned from taking some clothes out of the washing machine to find him in the basket on top of a pile of ironing. Crazy kid definitely keeps us on our toes.

On Tuesday we hosted mother’s group Melbourne Cup lunch. It was madness having about 7 gorgeous little ones crawling all over the place but it was a wonderful day. I haven’t done more than sit alone on the couch to watch the Melbourne Cup in years. One of the mums brought her daughter’s hobby horse and they all had a great time riding it.

Mr Ollie was more interested in charming all the mums than in watching the race.

I discovered the world’s biggest tomato this week. Ok so it’s more likely that a tin of whole tomatoes was incorrectly labelled but imagine the size of this baby if this is a cube?!

On Thursday it was a big day of baking here as I prepared some Christmas recipes for a client. Mr Ollie insisted on helping me.

It also meant that out came my box of Christmas styling goodies and the annual rediscovery of my dorky Christmas hat. Oh how I love it!
What about you? Have you started thinking about Christmas yet? Do you love it as much as I do?
